Historical Note on $44 \, 497$
The Mersenne number $M_{44 \, 497} = 2^{44 \, 497} - 1$ was demonstrated to be a Mersenne prime on $8$ April $1979$ by David Slowinski and Harry Nelson, using a CRAY-1 supercomputer.
