L.J. Comrie: Barlow's Tables (Third Edition)
Published $\text {1930}$, E. & F. Spon Ltd
Subject Matter
- Mathematical tables
This is an edition of Peter Barlow's New Mathematical Tables, originally published in 1814.
Comrie extended the tables to include fourth powers, reciprocals of square roots, factorials and square roots of ten times the number.
He also restored the tables of higher powers, which were present in the 1814 edition, but had been removed in the 1840 edition edited by Augustus De Morgan.
Also included (in the Introduction):
- A list of errors that he uncovered in the initial work (a total of seven instances);
- An indication of the source works used to compile some of the extra columns in the tables.
