Historical Note on Introduction to Plane and Solid Loci by Pierre de Fermat
Introduction to Plane and Solid Loci was the fruit of Pierre de Fermat's attempt to reconstruct Apollonius of Perga's lost De Locis Planis from what little information he could find.
While circulating in manuscript form from $1637$ onwards, Introduction to Plane and Solid Loci was not formally published until after Fermat's death.
