Isn't it strange to call this polynomial 'theory'? Maybe just Definitions/Polynomials? It's as if polynomials are a research topic on themselves, while they appear everywhere in abstract algebra. Nobody studies exclusively polynomials. --barto (talk) 14:00, 22 April 2017 (EDT)

Well we could go through and change all the pages saying "Polynomial Theory" to "Polynomials" and remove the category definition page Definition:Polynomial Theory and recrafting the shape of all this, but the thought of all the work needed to be done is dismaying. I know I'm not actually contributing much useful at the moment, but it's more enjoyable (to me) than changing the name of a category.
Do real mathematicians not refer to "polynomial theory" then? I'm afraid I would not know, I am completely unqualified to comment.
I did find a pdf download on Springer just now called "Basics of Polynomial Theory" but I haven't read it, it's full of big words. --prime mover (talk) 16:39, 22 April 2017 (EDT)
