Classic Problem

Two gamblers are playing a game of dice.

The object is to win as many points as possible to win a game.

If they abandon the game before it has finished, how should the stakes be divided between them?

This entry was named for Chevalier de Méré.

Historical Note

De Méré's Problem of Points was raised by the Chevalier de Méré and solved by Blaise Pascal.
