## Definition

A **bar graph** is a form of graph which consists of a finite set of (usually) vertical bars whose length determines the statistic being communicated.

## Also known as

A **bar graph** is often seen referred to as a **bar chart**.

Some sources use **bar diagram**, but that is rarer.

Some sources use the term **histogram**, but that is usually used to apply to a specialised graph of this type.
