Definition

The SI base units of the farad are:

$\mathrm F := \mathrm {kg}^{-1} \, \mathrm m^{-2} \, \mathrm s^4 \mathrm A^2$

where:

$\mathrm {kg}$ denotes kilograms
$\mathrm m$ denotes metres
$\mathrm s$ denotes seconds (of time).
$\mathrm A$ denotes ampere.

This arises from its definition as $\mathrm Q \, \mathrm V^{-1}$, that is: coulombs per volt.
