Definition

A liquid pouring problem is one where the object is to obtain a measure of $x$ volume units, given:

(usually) $2$ vessels (without markings) which can measure $a$ and $b$ volume units each
an unlimited reservoir from which one can fill the vessels, and usually empty them back into it.
