Definition

The Moore method is a deductive manner of instruction used in some advanced mathematics courses.

Instead of using a textbook, the students are given a list of definitions.

Based on these, the students are also given a list of theorems to prove and present in class.

This leads the students through the subject material.

The Moore method typically limits the amount of material that a class is able to cover, but this is countered by the depth of understanding that listening to lectures cannot give.
