Linguistic Note on Octahedron
The word octahedron derives from the Classical Greek:
- octo (ὀκτώ), meaning eight
- hedron (a form of ἕδρα), meaning base or seat.
The technically correct plural of octahedron is octahedra, but the word octahedrons can often be found.
