Definition
Static equilibrium is the state of a system in which the following three criteria are met:
- $(1): \quad$ The sum of all the forces on the system is zero
- $(2): \quad$ The sum of all the torques on the system is zero
- $(3): \quad$ The bodies in the system are at rest.
