Stochastic analysis is the branch of mathematics which studies the behaviour of stochastic processes.

The study of the differential equations associated with Brownian motion is an example of stochastic analysis.

Linguistic Note
The word stochastic is pronounced something like sto-kas-tic.
It derives from the Ancient Greek στοχαστικός (stokhastikós), from στοχάζομαι (stokházomai), which means to aim at a target, or to guess.
