Definition talk:Complementary Idempotent

Does $-$ need to be explained in this context? I gather from a vague understanding of linear algebra that if $I$ and $A$ are represented as matrices, it means "plus the negative matrix". I believe there may be a page defining it somewhere but can't be certain. --prime mover 08:20, 3 February 2012 (EST)

Your understanding is correct. Matrices are the finite dimensional analogues of the stuff discussed here. There shouldn't be any misunderstanding given Definition:Space of Bounded Linear Operators and Space of Bounded Linear Transformations is Banach Space. Anyone getting as far as the notion of an idempotent shouldn't have trouble dealing with it (or at least, that's where I stand at the moment). --Lord_Farin 09:04, 3 February 2012 (EST)
