The reason that I want this requirement spelled out here is that this is the usual way analysts define simply connectedness. Books on complex analysis don't need to refer to the fundamental group, so I wanted to give this simpler requirement in the definition. --Anghel (talk) 21:52, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
