"From this, the diameter can be intuitively understood as the greatest possible distance between two points in $S$."

"It isn't true".

Why not? --prime mover (talk) 15:45, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Well, $\operatorname{diam} \left({S}\right)$ is not the greatest possible distance between two points in $S$ (such a greatest number might not even exist). Maybe it can be intuitively thought of as that, but isn't that possibly misleading? --abcxyz (talk) 15:58, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
That's why it says "intuitively". But here's an idea: rather than just delete stuff you don't agree with, how about adding some words that qualify it? --prime mover (talk) 20:46, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
We could say that it is the smallest real number $D$ such that every two points in $S$ are at most a distance $D$ apart. But what does this add? --abcxyz (talk) 22:34, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
A quick and easy intuitive understanding of the concept. These things can be useful teaching aids. --prime mover (talk) 23:00, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
If you think so, then okay. --abcxyz (talk) 18:57, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
