Now you mention it, it looks that way.

In any event, a picture (or at least an explanation) is needed because the concept to be grasped is unclear.

I'd recommend condition $(1)$ being referred to in an "also defined as" section pointing out how some definitions of this concept include it - just in case there is an extreme or pathological case which will then be pointed out to us. --prime mover (talk) 12:08, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
