Allan did die in 2007, from what I can read in the foreword Dales was passed an incomplete manuscript by Allan when he fell ill, and this manuscript was completed and published in 2011. It says "First published 2011" at the front confidently enough and so does my university library's entry for the book. Caliburn (talk) 21:03, 30 May 2022 (UTC)

I see that as well, don't know where they got the "2009" date from, since if you look at Amazon's preview of the book it also says first published 2011 at the front. Caliburn (talk) 08:58, 31 May 2022 (UTC)
