- 2007 to 2013: Director of the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics
- 2010: Awarded the first Kavli Education Medal by the Royal Society for her research in mathematics education
- 2014: Awarded a DBE in recognition of her service as Director of the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics
- 2014 -- 2015: President of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications
