One of the leading proponents of the Moore method of teaching.

  • Born: 2nd December 1902 in Rockwell City, Iowa
  • 1924: Received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa
  • 1927: Received Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin (now University of Wisconsin–Madison)
  • 1927: Joined faculty at Northwestern University
  • 1938: Rescued Ernst Hellinger from almost certain death in Dachau by arranging a place for him at Northwestern University
  • 1944: Moved to Illinois Institute of Technology
  • 1946: Moved to University of Texas
  • 1970: Became Emeritus Professor
  • Died: 12th September 1971 in Austin, Texas
