- Born: 17 June 1928 in Dundee, Scotland
- 1949: Graduated from University of St Andrews with First Class Honours in Mathematics
- 1952: Awarded doctorate from Princeton
- 1953: Appointed to Mathematics Department at Queen's University, Belfast
- 1960: Appointed as a lecturer in mathematics in Queen's College, Dundee
- 1966: Research visit to the University of Western Australia
- 2001: Emigrated to Australia
- Died: 9 June 2010 in Nedlands, WA, Australia
