  • Born: 16 July 1801 in Elberfeld (now Wuppertal), Duchy of Berg, Holy Roman Empire (now Germany)
  • Died: 22 May 1868 in Bonn, Germany

Note that there is a question as to his exact date of birth. Most online sources have his birthday as 16 June, but on his gravestone it says 16 July. $\mathsf{Pr} \infty \mathsf{fWiki}$ adopts the latter.
