Besides, while there is still a "merge" tag in place, deleting would be premature.

Bear in mind that the destination page has actually got two different contexts for the definition of associates: a) on an integral domain, and b) on a commutative ring. Words need to be said concerning the on-the-surface careless mix of contexts.

Without having investigated it (mind somewhere else at the moment) I would not like to definitively state whether the definitions are completely equivalent. It may be that either of defs 1 or 2 may not be applicable to the general comm. ring. Research needed. --prime mover (talk) 20:27, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
