Suggest renaming this to something like "strong extreme value theorem", or perhaps adding links between the two articles. --Linus44 (talk) 20:56, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Which two articles - that is, this one and which one?
This is called the Continuity Property in 1977: K.G. Binmore: Mathematical Analysis: A Straightforward Approach: is the suggestion that it's inappropriately named? --prime mover (talk) 21:50, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
Not suggesting the name is inappropriate in that context: but since there are rather more results here, continuity property could mean many things. Something "Continuous image of closed interval is closed interval" would be more precise, and fits with things like "continuous image of connected space is connected".
I meant the extreme value theorem article, but reading it carefully we'd need a separate statement of the EVT for the reals for the two to be equivalent. --Linus44 (talk) 21:58, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
I agree with Linus44. With this name it's virtually impossible to find this page. --barto (talk) 15:05, 28 April 2017 (EDT)
So does "strong extreme value theorem" work for you? --prime mover (talk) 19:43, 28 April 2017 (EDT)
More like "Continuous Image of Closed Interval is Closed Interval" --barto (talk) 02:03, 29 April 2017 (EDT)
As suggested then. --prime mover (talk) 04:42, 29 April 2017 (EDT)
