Talk:Equivalence of Definitions of Analytic Function

Regarding deletion request

One definition is for real functions and one is for complex functions. How can they be equivalent? Because the definition of real analytic functions (that $f$ can be expressed as a power series) is also a possible definition of complex analytic functions. The definition page needs to be updated to mention this. I intend to update the pages when I've uploaded enough theorems to prove that the two complex definitions are in fact equivalent. --Anghel (talk) 13:56, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Agreed. Please leave this page undeleted.
In other news, Anghel has now been put completely in charge of developing the Complex Analysis field on this site until further notice. Any amendments made by other collaborators are to be restricted to stylistic and cosmetic amendments only (of which few are expected to be necessary). --prime mover (talk) 14:01, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
I would like to kindly request an answer for the related question at Definition talk:Analytic Function/Complex Plane. Furthermore, it may be a good idea to put this note on a more prominent place. --Lord_Farin (talk) 14:10, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Where do you suggest such a note be placed? It's a new precedent. --prime mover (talk) 14:12, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
I don't know. Perhaps main talk suffices. This explicit statement is unprecedented, but I think it's a good innovation. --Lord_Farin (talk) 14:19, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Although I did not have any immediate plans to work on complex analysis, I am rather curious why that portion of the site would be so restricted. Isn't participation by a community of editors the purpose of a wiki? --Dfeuer (talk) 15:35, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

But I do not want to be put completely in charge of developing Complex Analysis, let alone anything else on this wiki. My uploads are meant to be a part of a community effort, just as Dfeuer says. Another point would be that in complex analysis, there are many different approaches, and proofs of the same theorems. All of them are interesting, and if someone knows of a better, or simpler, or simply different way of proving the theorems, by all means go ahead and upload your alternative proofs. --Anghel (talk) 17:03, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Update

I have removed the deletion request and structured the page according to our current presentational style. A proof still needs to be crafted. --prime mover (talk) 14:19, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
