Talk:Fractional Sobolev Embedding Theorem

Hi guys, I started this page. I just wanted to get the ball rolling with harmonic analysis. Thanks a lot for touching things up. I have a question, what is the usual workflow for making a new page? Is it ok if I make a ton of tiny edits initially, or should I be doing something differently? mmunoz 23:04, 6 June 2011 (CDT)

MathJax wasn't working in the Preview earlier, but now it is, so I will just use that now. Sorry for all the small edits. mmunoz 23:24, 6 June 2011 (CDT)
The usual technique, if you're going to jump right in the deep end like this, is to make sure you know what you're talking about first.--prime mover 00:22, 7 June 2011 (CDT)

The definition of Sobolev spaces ought to be moved to a separate page.

I'd do it myself but I've not met fractional spaces. If I read it correctly the idea is, roughly speaking, is that because

Smooth function $\Rightarrow$ fast decaying Fourier transform

instead we work backwards and say

Fractional decay of Fourier transform $\Rightarrow$ fractional smoothness of function? --Linus44 16:02, 6 June 2011 (CDT)
This is an area of mathematics I know nothing about, so I can comment from a noob's PoV. To wit: this page has dived too far into the deep end for this to fit into any context in ProofWiki, and lots of preliminary work needs to be done for this to be accessible. If anyone's up for it, then please feel free to fire away. --prime mover 16:21, 6 June 2011 (CDT)
