What does it mean "when gradient exists"? In the text it states it exists when partial derivatives exist and this a definition as any other, if there is no other convention in place. I think the question needs be more specific. --Milen
- I assume you're referring to Definition:Gradient. In fact, it appears that the existence condition was added by the same user who added the template; which, I presume means (s)he wanted someone to verify whether the condition is the correct one.
