Will we proceed to eviscerate the $\mathcal X$ for a vector space (I have only seen it for vector fields, which are rather specialized from the general setting)? --Lord_Farin (talk) 23:30, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

I would say: yes, certainly. This page and a few others were put together by someone who objected to his notation being changed and has since gone on to contribute mightily to the general negative image of this website throughout cyberspace. --prime mover (talk) 06:11, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
Actually now I think about it, as this is for a "topological vector space" I'm not sure - I don't know what the standard notation for such an object usually is, so hold off on that for a while till we get a view on it from others. --prime mover (talk) 06:15, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
Conway gives $\mathscr X$ for TVSs. I presume you are fine with changing the notation where it concerns general vsp? --Lord_Farin (talk) 07:56, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
