In Case 1, is the following adequete: "This sum could not be any less because then $\ds a + \sum \map l {I_n} < b$"? Should we instead prove both inequalities that $b - a \le \map m L \le b - a$? --Jacobjoseph (talk) 18:52, 12 October 2017 (EDT)

This was an early page written by someone who no longer contributes. It still needs to be incorporated into a comprehensive treatment of measure theory (which was started once but discontinued). You may be right, but OTOH there may be subtleties of axiomatics. I don't know myself, because I haven't studied that area.
By the way, please remember to sign your posts on talk pages. --prime mover (talk) 02:02, 13 October 2017 (EDT)
