Talk:Metric Space is First-Countable

Why do you need to change the underlying set from $A$ to $X$? Most of the pages on metric spaces have $A$. It's usually best to reserve $X$ for an unknown (and yes I know that's not how a lot of the topology pages currently work). --prime mover (talk) 21:00, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I somehow thought it was the other way for some reason. --abcxyz (talk) 21:12, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
Looking around the place, you may be right, the convention might have been $X$ at one point. But the pages I've been working through most of the last week or two have been $A$, so I dare say $A$ it is. --prime mover (talk) 22:02, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
