A quadratic polynomial is an expression of the form:
- $a x^2 + b x + c$
where:
- $x \in \R$
- $a, b, c \in \mathbb k$ where $\mathbb k$ is one of the standard number sets $\Z, \Q, \R$.
In more general treatments of polynomials it can be defined as of the form:
- $a_0 + a_1 x + a_2 x^2$
where:
- $x \in \R$
