I was born in Karachi, Pakistan and raised in Saudi Arabia. I obtained my BS in Electrical Engineering from the GIK Institute, Pakistan in 2000. I went to work for a North American communication IC design firm as a VLSI engineer. I worked for Avaz till 2003. In the fall of 2003 I went to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor to obtain a graduate degree in Communication Theory. After spending a little over two years at UofM I came back to Saudi Arabia and joined the King Fahd Univ. of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) as a lecturer for undergrad courses and labs, including probability, circuit theory and signal processing. I am now currently enrolled as a PhD student at the EE Dept. of KFUPM. Because of my researches in information theory, coding, signal processing etc. I have a keen interest in various areas of mainstream mathematics, inlcuding analysis, measure theory, abstract and linear algebra, probability and mathematical statistics and differential geometry as well as applied areas like statistical signal processing which lies at the intersection of the above mentioned fields. I always enjoyed doing math right from my high school years.
