Definition
Let $\EE$ be an experiment.
Let $\Omega$ be a discrete sample space of $\EE$.
Then it is commonplace to take $\Sigma$ to be the power set $\powerset \Omega$ of $\Omega$, that is, the set of all possible subsets of $\Omega$.
