Definition
Let $S$ be a set of observations of continuous data.
Let the range of $S$ be grouped into a finite subdivision.
Each of the subintervals of the subdivision into which the grouped data is assigned is referred to as a bin.
Bin Width
The length of the subintervals of a set of grouped data that form the bins of that grouped data is known as the bin width.
