Definition

A type $3$ lever is a lever such that the effort is positioned between the load and the fulcrum:

Foot Treadle

A foot treadle on a treadle loom is an example of a type $3$ lever.

Its fulcrum is the pivot at which the treadle is attached to the floor

The effort is the force applied by the user to the treadle

The load is the reaction of the heddles being raised and lowered by the treadles.


Arm

An arm is an example of a type $3$ lever.

The effort is the force applied by the muscle

The load is the reaction of the forearm being raised by the muscle.
