Acceptance sampling is a procedure in quality control in which:
- $(1): \quad$ a sample is taken from a batch and measured
- $(2): \quad$ the number of defectives is counted
- $(3): \quad$ a decision is made to accept or reject the batch based on the count of those defectives.
The most simple method is to have a single criterion to accept or reject the batch based on the number of defectives.
A more sophisticated approach is to take further samples if the count of defectives is borderline.
