Let $\LL_1$ and $\LL_2$ be two straight lines in space, which may or may not intersect each other.
Let $\mathbf u_1$ and $\mathbf u_2$ be vectors whose directions are parallel to $\LL_1$ and $\LL_2$ respectively, such that the angle $\theta$ between $\mathbf u_1$ and $\mathbf u_2$ is such that:
- $0 \le \theta \le \dfrac \pi 2$
that is:
- $0 \degrees \le \theta \le 90 \degrees$
The angle between $\LL_1$ and $\LL_2$ is defined as that $\theta$.
