Definition

Let $f$ be a real function defined over an interval $\openint a b$.

Let $A$ be an approximation to $f$ over $\openint a b$.

For $x \in \openint a b$, the approximation error of $\map A x$ with respect to $\map f x$ is defined as:

$\map f x - \map A x$
