Let $\mathbf A$ be a positive definite matrix.
Let $\mathbf A$ have a Cholesky factorization in the form:
- $\mathbf A = \mathbf R^\intercal \mathbf R$
Then $\mathbf R$ is known as the Cholesky factor of $\mathbf A$.
