Definition
Every substance is composed of indivisible particles of that substance.
These particles are referred to as the elementary units of that substance.
Examples
Elementary units may be:
- atoms (of a specified element)
- molecules (of a specified substance)
- ions (of a specified type)
- electrons
- photons
and so on.
