1989: Ephraim J. Borowski and Jonathan M. Borwein: Dictionary of Mathematics:
- Mersenne numbers or Mersenne primes
Mistake
- ... the largest known is $2^{11,213} - 1$.
Correction
As of $1963$ this was true.
However, the next one, that is, $2^{19,937} - 1$, was discovered in $1971$.
As the Dictionary of Mathematics was published in $1989$, this was so inaccurate as for this to be classified as a mistake.
