How does this fit in with the definition of local ring? I fear I'm out of my depth yet. --prime mover 01:54, 6 May 2011 (CDT)

The localisation of a ring is local (which I'll prove at some point), but the concepts are different: localisation is (from one point of view) localisation in the topological sense: the algebraic analogue of focusing on small neighbourhoods of a point.

A local ring is a "type of ring" where as this is a "construction of a ring"; they're not unrelated but I think it's worthy of it's own page. --Linus44 02:50, 6 May 2011 (CDT)
