- 1869: Entered École Normale Supérieure
- 1870: Joined the army of the Loire as a second lieutenant, fought in Franco-Prussian War
- 1871: Returned to his studies at the École Normale Supérieure
- 1873: Completed his studies
- 19 September 1873: Appointed to the Lycée de Belfort, took charge of the mathematics course.
- 15 September 1875: Obtained his mathematics agrégation
- 22 September 1875: Named as professor of elementary mathematics at the Lycée d'Angers
- 8 November 1876: Appointed to position of professor of special mathematics at the Lycée de Clermont-Ferrand
- 13 February 1878: Appointed maître de conférences at the Faculty of Science at Nancy
- November 1879: Given a temporary appointment as a professor at Nancy
- 1880: Put in charge of the mathematics course at Nancy
- July 1880: Given a permanent chair
- End of 1880: Holding the chair of pure mathematics and analysis
- 1905: Appointed head of the Faculty of Science at Nancy
- Died: 7 Oct 1920 in Nancy, France
