Italian painter and mathematician.
Recognized as one of the most important Renaissance painters, but was also a creditable mathematician.
His surviving mathematical works concern such subjects as: the abacus; the five Platonic solids, and perspective in painting.

Publications
Three works of his are known to have survived, although none were published in his lifetime:
- Trattato d'abaco (Abacus treatise)
- Libellus de quinque corporibus regularibus (Short book on the five regular solids)
- De prospectiva pingendi (On perspective for painting)
His works circulated widely in manuscript form, and much became influential enough to be incorporated into the works of others.
