Joseph Hoshen retired from Motorola Solutions in 2012. Before that he has been with Bell labs for 20 years till 2000. His assignments included platform and system capacity testing, modeling and analysis as well as the development architecture for E911 Phase II delivery. In 1997, he received a US Department of Justice grant to develop architecture and a design for personal locator systems with emphasis on offender monitoring systems. In 1977, he developed an algorithm, known in the literature as the Hoshen-Kopelman algorithm. The algorithm enables connected components analysis for very large lattices. Joseph Hoshen received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Tel Aviv University and a MS in Computer Information and Communication Engineering from the University of Michigan.
