I was born in Napa, California and grew up in the Napa Valley. Though I struggled with math as a teenager, I fell profoundly in the love with the subject while taking calculus and linear algebra courses as an undergraduate. In 2007, I earned a BA in Economics from Sacramento State University and began to pursue my PhD in the subject at the University of Washington in Seattle. In graduate school I was exposed to a lot of analysis, statistical theory, dynamic programming, and linear algebra, and I taught myself number theory on the side using textbooks and the internet. After earning an MA in 2009 and advancing to candidacy in 2011 I decided economics research was not for me and entered the working world. Recreational mathematics has since become a hobby of mine, and I often spend time continuing my study of mathematics and proving theorems of my own.
