Definition

Consider a clock whose hour hand and minute hand are designed so as to make them indistinguishable.

Let the the arrangement of the hands be such that if they were exchanged, they are once again in an arrangement which is a valid time indication.

The time of day indicated by the clock is known as an ambiguous time.
