The galactic center is the point on the galactic equator which is taken to be the center of the (Milky Way) galaxy.

It is used as the origin of the galactic coordinate system.

Its agreed position in equatorial coordinates is:

Right ascension: $17 \, \mathrm h \, 46 \, \mathrm {min}$
Declination: $-28 \degrees \, 56 '$
