Definition

Let $\CC$ be a line, a curve or a surface.

An intercept of $\CC$ is the intersection of $\CC$ with another line, a curve or a surface.


In particular:


$x$-Intercept

Let $\CC$ be a curve embedded in a cartesian plane.

An $x$-intercept of $\CC$ is a point where $\CC$ intersects the $x$-axis.


$y$-Intercept

Let $\CC$ be a curve embedded in a cartesian plane.

A $y$-intercept of $\CC$ is a point where $\CC$ intersects the $y$-axis.
