Definition
A spherical segment is a closed surface formed by two parallel planes cutting a sphere.
Thus a spherical segment is bounded by two circular bases with a zone of the sphere between them.
Base of Spherical Segment
Each of the two parallel planes defining a spherical segment is called a base of the spherical segment.
Spherical Segment of One Base
Let $S$ be a spherical segment such that one of whose bases is tangent to the sphere from which it is formed.
Then $S$ is referred to as a spherical segment of one base.
