If a coordinate system of a module is the same as an ordered basis, can we merge those definitions? --barto (talk) 01:32, 1 May 2017 (EDT)

What do other texts do here? --prime mover (talk) 04:11, 1 May 2017 (EDT)
Update: 1974: Robert Gilmore: Lie Groups, Lie Algebras and Some of their Applications says:
"A vector space is $N$-dimensional if it is possible to find a set of $N$ non-zero linearly independent vectors $\mathbf v_1, \mathbf v_2, \ldots, \mathbf v_N$, but every set of $N + 1$ nonzero vectors is linearly independent.
Definition Any such maximal set of vectors is called a basis or coordinate system."
So yes we probably could and should merge them. --prime mover (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2019 (EST)
